ITALIAN VINEYARDS IN YADKIN COUNTY ONE OF THREE US VINEYARDS THAT
PRODUCES VERMENTINO WINE
VERMENTINO WINE HAS WON TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS THIS YEAR
Nestled between the Blue Ridge
and the Brushy Mountains in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina, the
Raffaldini Vineyards of Swan Creek is known as the Chianti Vineyards
of the Carolinas, bringing a touch of Europe to the Tar Heel State.
It is one of three, of the 4600 wineries in the United States that
produces a varietal Vermentino wine—the most popular white wine
native to Sardinia. It has won two prestigious awards already this
year.
The Raffaldini Vineyards is a family owned vineyard whose wine
vintage dates back to 1348 in the Northern Province of Lombardy,
Italy. It was only after an exhaustive search for land in the United
States that the family decided to locate the winery in the Swan
Creek area, where it would benefit from the mountain’s deposits of
rich minerals and the breezy climate, that would produce grapes that
stood up to the handcrafting of fine Italian wines.
